Beatriz Neila finished runner up in the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship after the final round in Jerez, taking the 2025 silver medal for Ampito Crescent Yamaha with two more stand-out podium performances.
Just six points separated Neila from main rival Maria Herrera at the start of the weekend, with everything left to play for. The pair qualified P2 and P1 respectively on Friday, setting the stage for the final showdown.
Fighting at the front of a group of seven riders, Neila led Race 1 until the start of the crucial final lap when wildcard Paola Ramos came into contact with the Ampito Crescent Yamaha rider, pushing her wide on the entry to Turn 1. Ramos was penalised three seconds for her move after the chequered flag, promoting Neila to a third-place podium finish, but the opportunity to win the race was lost.
With a 15-point deficit to overcome on Sunday, Neila gave everything she had in Race 2 – highlighting the huge step in maturity and clever race craft that the 23-year-old has achieved in her second year at World Championship level. Herrera controlled the race in the opening laps, slowing the group and allowing Ramos to amass a significant lead out in front to prevent Neila from targeting victory.
On Lap 4, Neila made a pass on Herrera to take hold of second place and was able to control the race for second herself. Herrera dropped back in the group to finish sixth, but it was not enough for Neila to overcome the points deficit from Race 1 – the championship being decided by just five points in Herrera’s favour.
In a year of close competition and fierce battles, Neila and Ampito Crescent Yamaha demonstrated tremendous growth, dedication and sportsmanship, incredibly finishing all 12 WorldWCR races on the podium and taking four race victories. Neila also took home the 2025 Pirelli Best Lap Award for the highest number of fastest race laps across the season.
Beatriz Neila – Superpole: P2 / Race 1: P3 / Race 2: P2
“What a season, and what a final weekend! I did my best, even a little more than my best, but in the end, I placed P2 in both Race 2 and the championship. I lost the championship, yes, but in many ways it’s a win for me… the experience, the emotions, this moment. I know I completed a very strong season and a very good final race – the championship went to the last lap. I’m really happy with my performance and what we have achieved – I’ve learned so much and am very proud of myself. My performance in 2024 gave me the motivation to do more this season, and I’ve definitely done that, growing as a person and as a rider. I could not have done it without the support of my family, Ampito and the team – especially Alan, Paul and Jonathan. I plan to continue this amazing adventure next season, so I’ll be back to try again in 2026!”
