Beatriz Neila scored an almost perfect set of results for Ampito Crescent Yamaha at Donington Park for Round 3 of the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship, in the UK last weekend.

From her first World Championship pole position on Friday afternoon, Neila finished runner up in Race 1 with the fastest race lap following an epic four-way battle across 12 laps. The result meant she started Race 2 from pole position once again – setting the stage for a fantastic career-second WorldWCR win.

She got away well at the start and ran a mature race inside the tightly-fought front group. On the penultimate lap, Neila made a key overtake into The Esses – Sara Sanchez fought back on the final lap, but Neila got the better track position and drive coming out of the Melbourne Loop to take victory.

Leaving the UK and Ampito Crescent Yamaha’s home round as the top championship points scorer of the weekend, Neila closes the gap to first position to just nine points at the halfway junction of the season. The next WorldWCR round takes place next week at the new Balaton Park Circuit in Hungary from 25-27 July.

Beatriz Neila – Superpole: P1 / Race 1: P2 (Fastest Lap) / Race 2: P1 (Fastest Lap)

“I’m so happy; this victory means a lot to me. I’ve worked really hard in recent weeks to prepare and the results in Donington are extra motivation to continue. Race 2 was tough, as there was a big group of us fighting and we were also caught by some other riders. I started to enjoy myself with about four laps to go, while the first part of the race was more challenging. Two laps from the end, I was able to build a tiny gap, setting the best lap and clinching the win. Friday was my very first pole position and fastest lap on Saturday meant I started both races from the front. Race 1 was crazy, and that last lap was just amazing. I realized I was lying fourth and knew I had to try to pass both Sara and Chloe. I was able to get it done and finish second, and I’m really happy about that. I would like to thank Paul, my crew Alan and Andy, and my family for always supporting me – as well as Ampito and Crescent Yamaha. It was incredible to celebrate these results at the team’s home round in front of many fans! The championship’s closer than ever now, so I’ll need to work hard ahead of the next races. Balaton could be good for us, as I like the chicanes; we’ll see.”
