MEET
THE TEAM

The Pata Maxus Yamaha WorldSBK project is operated in direct partnership between Yamaha Motor Europe and Crescent Racing. This collaboration presents a dynamic racing team with highly experienced engineering staff to extract the best of Yamaha’s proven racing pedigree and winning machinery.
Since the Japanese manufacturer’s highly-anticipated return to WorldSBK in 2016, Yamaha made no secret of its aim to add to its impressive history within the premier production superbike series – which includes the 2009 title-winning and record-breaking year with Ben Spies, 2021 triple crown with Toprak Razgatlioğlu and many other highlights.
From 2017, the Pata Yamaha Team became regular podium contenders – recording six podiums and showing incredible improvement throughout the season. This upward trajectory continued the following year when the team celebrated its first win with a spectacular double victory at Donington Park in May 2018. By the end of that season, the team had scored three wins and 12 podiums.
In 2019, the Yamaha R1 took to the podium no less than 17 times, including one emphatic win in Jerez, Spain. Then teammates Alex Lowes and Michael van der Mark finished the championship in close third and fourth, respectively.
In 2020, exciting youngster Razgatlıoğlu joined the squad and scored a win on debut at Phillip Island. He went onto finish fourth in the standings, one place ahead of van der Mark, with Pata Yamaha taking 17 podiums, including four victories.
2021 went down as one of the greatest seasons on record, with Razgatlıoğlu battling Jonathan Rea for the championship. It culminated in a dramatic showdown at the final round, with Toprak taking the title, winning 13 races and 29 podiums. 2020 World Supersport Champion Andrea Locatelli also joined the team in 2021 and enjoyed a sensational rookie season, finishing fourth in the standings after scoring four podiums. Pata Yamaha won the teams' title, and Yamaha took the manufacturers' championship, resulting in the Triple Crown.
In 2022, the Pata Yamaha Team was once again in championship contention with Razgatlıoğlu. Their Turkish rider scored 14 victories but just missed out on the title, finishing second in the final standings. Alongside Locatelli, the two riders combined for 31 podiums, and both remained with the renamed Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK Official Team for a championship challenge in 2023.
It was a similar story in 2023 with Razgatlıoğlu and Yamaha taking seven victories with the Turkish rider on the podium in all but two races, but despite the close battle, it was only enough to finish second in the championship standings.
2024 marked an era of change in WorldSBK with one of the biggest rider shake-ups in the series’ history, including the recruitment of six-time World Superbike Champion Jonathan Rea to the Pata Prometeon Yamaha team in place of Razgatlıoğlu. There was a lot of promise ahead of the season, but it turned out to be a challenging year for Rea and Yamaha with the six-time champion not immediately gelling with the R1. There were signs of promise, including a pole position in Assen and a podium in the Donington Park Sprint Race. Rea's team-mate Andrea Locatelli also showed potential, fighting for victory in the season-opener at Phillip Island and finishing on the podium five times in total - however, overall it was a year where the team were left yearning for more.
The 2025 season got off to a flying start with Locatelli wasting no time stepping back onto the podium at round two in Portimão. He continued his momentum in race one at Assen with another podium, before storming to his first WorldSBK victory in race two at the Cathedral of Speed. He achieved another well-fought podium at his home round in Misano, once again showcasing his determination and speed. On the other side of the garage Jonathan Rea struggled due to an early season foot injury, forcing him out of the first three rounds which left him catching up for the remainder of the season. Locatelli finished the championship in fourth place overall, with Rea ending the year in 16th.
Heading into 2026 the Pata Maxus Yamaha WorldSBK Official Team have signed experienced rider Xavi Vierge to join Andrea Locatelli. Vierge offers a wealth of knowledge to the team, both from his previous Superbike experience and from his time as a Grand Prix racer. This pairing brings an all-new dynamic to the team, which will be looking to build on their recent successes in the World Superbike Championship.
